Anthracite Grey · RAL 7016M
The colour that instantly modernises any property.
Tired white uPVC drags a whole elevation down. Anthracite Grey — the UK's most specified finish since 2019 — sharpens the lines, frames the glass properly and makes a 1970s semi look like a 2026 new-build.

We foil-bond it to the uPVC profile under heat and pressure so it won't peel, fade or need repainting. On aluminium we powder-coat it — same colour, same finish, installed side-by-side in the same week.

A straight answer, not a sales pitch
The honest truth about uPVC bifolds and uPVC front doors.
We sell uPVC every day of the week — but we will tell you, candidly, where uPVC is the wrong material for the job. There are two openings in your house where we strongly recommend aluminium, even on a tight budget.
Don't do this
uPVC bifolds simply do not work.
A 2.1m-tall bifold leaf weighs 60–80 kg with double-glazing. uPVC is, fundamentally, a plastic — it flexes under that load, sags on its hinges, and twists out of square in hot weather. Within twelve to eighteen months you will be on the phone complaining of doors that drag, gaskets that miss, and gaps that whistle in the wind. Strength: aluminium is roughly four times stiffer than uPVC. Bifolds need that stiffness — the leaves must remain perfectly square, every panel, every season.

Sightlines: uPVC frames have to be much thicker just to carry the glass. You lose a third of the view to chunky white plastic.

Lifespan: a uPVC bifold rarely sees ten good years. An aluminium bifold is engineered for twenty-five plus, with 50,000 cycles tested.

Resale: a uPVC bifold actively reduces the perceived value of the rear elevation. An aluminium one adds to it. Our position: we do not fit uPVC bifolds. Not because we want to sell you something more expensive — because we are not interested in callbacks for a problem we knew was coming.
 Think twice
uPVC front and rear doors flex around the lock.
Cheaper uPVC door systems can be physically bent away from the lock keep with a crowbar — the leaf flexes enough to disengage the deadbolt without breaking the cylinder. Police forces and the Master Locksmiths Association have documented this attack repeatedly. It takes seconds. Your insurer knows it; that's why PAS 24 and Secured by Design exist.

Aluminium doors use a 60–70 mm thermally broken extrusion that simply does not flex enough to defeat the multi-point lock.

Composite doors with a GRP skin and an aluminium reinforcement bar are also a sensible step up — but pure-uPVC entrance doors should be avoided on any property worth protecting.

Insurance: some premium insurers now require PAS 24 entrance doors as standard. Ask before you buy.

Our recommendation: aluminium for the front door, aluminium for the back door, aluminium for any bifold or sliding door. uPVC saves real money everywhere else.
The clever way to spend
Aluminium where it shows. uPVC where it doesn't.
The smartest hybrid spec is not 50/50 by accident — it's deliberate. Put the aluminium where the eye lands, the security matters, and the strength is needed. Put the uPVC where the budget is best served and nobody can tell.
What the door does, instead:
Closes fully on its own door-closer. Engages all multi-point hooks & deadbolts. Reports the closure to one’s phone (silent, no notification storm).
Logs the event in the audit trail. Awaits one’s return — and recognises one in under a second.

Typical saving versus full aluminium: £2,500–£4,000 on a six-window plus rear-bifold project — without losing the look at the front of the house.
